Goal

The FSE Electrical Safety requirements stipulate that all who work with overhead lines and aerial cables must be trained in emergency rescue operations on electricity pylons. Training must be repeated at least every 12 months. In recent years there have been a number of accidents involving rotten poles. This course looks at safety routines before climbing poles, masts and pylons.

  • Setting up poles, 3 and 4 metre marks
  • Checking for wood rot before climbing
  • Climbing and safety equipment
  • Climbing / working at a height
  • Personal protective equipment above / below 15 metres
  • Dismantling bracing wires, tension etc. (dynamic forces)
  • Rescuing from a height (separate course)
