The goal

The course meets the training requirements set out in the Norwegian ASH Regulations § 2-6, which require that personnel working on board receive the necessary training to perform their duties in a safety-conscious and responsible manner.

The course complies with the Norwegian Maritime Authority’s circular “Guidance on training requirements for chemical energy storage (maritime battery systems) on board Norwegian ships”, with the exception of equipment-specific training.

The target group

All personnel included in the safety plan, seafarers (officers and crew on board), technical and operational management in shipping companies, and firefighters who may assist seafarers in the event of a fire involving a Li-ion battery on board a vessel or in its cargo.

The knowledge is also relevant for those involved in developing regulations, as well as the design of vessels and equipment for the maritime industry.
