Important changes after January the 1st 2024:
Questions regarding these changes must be addressed to the Norwegian Fire Protection Association: https://brannvernforeningen.no/.
The Safety Regulations have been updated as of January 1, 2024, and may be found here. It is essential that all course participants familiarise themselves with the new regulations.
Validity: The certificate is valid in Norway, Finland and Denmark for 5 years before it must be renewed. Courses completed after 1 July 2023 are not valid in Sweden.
The course helps provide the participant with the necessary knowledge of how a fire can start and develop, how to ensure hot work is carried out safely, and how to extinguish a fire if it should break out.
The course is intended for anyone who needs to carry out hot work or take on the role of fire watch in an area where hot work is being done.
Hot work is work which involves the use of tools that may produce sufficient heat or sparks to start a fire. Examples of hot work include welding, cutting, grinding, angle grinding, soldering, roofing work using an open flame or hot-air equipment, and any other work involving the use of an open flame.
The course ends with an exam. When you have passed the exam and we have received documentation confirming that you have completed a fire extinguishing exercise, you will receive a digital certificate from the Norwegian Fire Protection Association's site: https://brannvernforeningen.no/sertifisering/varme-arbeider/digital-certificate-on-tablets-and-mobile. Documentation that you have completed the required fire-extinguishing exercise during the last month should be sent to email@example.com for registration within three months after completing the e-learning course.
The instructor for practical fire-extinguishing exercises must be an approved instructor in the scheme or an employee of the fire service with competence in carrying out practical fire-extinguishing exercises.
The certificate is valid in Norway, Finland and Denmark for 5 years before it must be renewed. Courses completed after 1 July 2023 are not valid in Sweden.
