Goal

After completing the course, participants should have knowledge of the types of portable communication equipment that can be used in potentially explosive atmosphere areas, how this equipment should be handled in accordance with applicable regulations, as well as basic requirements for procurement, training, and maintenance.

The course addresses examples of specific inspection points that an instructed user must focus on.

Target group

All personnel who are to perform a self-inspection on all portable electronic communication equipment that is in Ex performance.

  • Checking equipment before use
  • Safe use and maintenance
  • Inspection of the equipment
  • EOL (End of Life) disposal with learning and experience

Regulations

The course is based on the Norwegian Ocean Industry Authority’s regulations and the NFEA's guidance - Procurement, use, and maintenance of portable communication devices in explosive atmospheres.

Prerequisites

The course assumes previous knowledge in Ex, defined for different groups in EX-COMP:2021.
