The goal
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to provide medical care on board ships in accordance with STCW Code Table A-VI/4-2.
The target group
Seafarers who are responsible for medical care on board. All deck officers are required to complete refresher training in Medical Care.

- Circulatory failure and shock
- Hygiene on board
- Cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), oxygen therapy, and acute illnesses
- Head, neck, and spinal injuries
- Onboard medical resources and Radio Medico services
- General nursing care
- Basic pathology and medical conditions
- Medicines, medical equipment, and intravenous fluid therapy
- Practical exercises in medical treatment and care

Prerequisites
Participants must hold a valid certificate in STCW Medical Care (A-VI/4-2), or be able to document 12 months of seagoing service within the last five years together with a valid course certificate.
