The course is module 1 of 2 course modules that can be completed to satisfy the requirement to document the fitter's competence within the subject Electronic Communication Networks. cf. National Communications Authority's (Nkom) authorization regulations § 6. If work is carried out with fiber-optic installations, additional competence within this must be documented in addition. Module 2 [Ekom - Fiber optic installations] (https://en.trainor.no/app/product/classroom/5wpISJ/ekom--fibre-optic-installations) will take care of this.
That is, after completing module 1 and module 2, the participants receive a course certificate that can be included in the company's Internal Control (IK) system to fulfill requirements to document the fitter's competence within the subject Electronic Communication Networks. cf. National Communications Authority (Nkom) Authorization Regulations § 6.
Goal
After completing the module, the participant shall be familiar with the content of relevant standards and, based on this, be able to select the appropriate communication classes, equipment, and materials. The participant shall also have the knowledge to carry out high-quality installations and understand the requirements for documentation and testing of communication networks.
Target group
Case handlers, installers, and other technical personnel working with electronic communications networks covered by the Norwegian Communications Authority's (Nkom) authorization regulations. The course covers all types of installations, including broadband networks, cabling in buildings, and special applications on ships or offshore.
Subjects covered in the course
- The Electronic Communications Act and associated regulations
- Relevant standards; NEK 700 series (new in 2024) and applicable EU directives
- System understanding, concepts, basic design of cabling systems based on copper cable, coaxial cable, fiber optic cable, and wireless networks
- Electrical safety in the electronic communication network, EMC, grounding, documentation, and testing requirements
- The course is conducted as a combination of theoretical and practical tasks.
- The course concludes with a written exam.
