Goal

Having completed this course, participants will know how mechanical Ex equipment is marked, and what the different markings mean. Participants will learn to distinguish between the different types of markings and how to make good decisions when selecting equipment to use in an installation in a potentially hazardous area.

Target group

Personnel working with installing and maintenance of mechanical equipment and other personnel planning or working on installations in potentially hazardous areas outside of the EU/EEA. The course will also be useful for manufacturers and suppliers of Ex equipment outside of the EU/EEA.

  • Protection type for mechanical equipment
  • Markings following the ISO standard
  • Brief introduction to additional markings following the ATEX directive
  • Certificate number
  • Brief introduction to marking electrical equipment
  • Marking associated equipment and associated apparatus
  • Assemblies

Regulations

For people who works non-EU/EEA/UK - seagoing ships: The course is based on marking of Ex-equipment described in the ISO-standards (80079-36) for Non-electrical equipment for explosive atmospheres, and will contribute in documenting competence.
