Game-Based Learning

Game-Based Learning is a learning method in which the game itself is the learning activity. The goal is not only to make learning more engaging, but also to allow participants to learn by making decisions, solving problems, and experiencing consequences within the game.

The game is the learning experience itself

The key to game-based learning is that the player must take action to progress and receives immediate feedback on their actions.

Interactivity requires you to stay focused and pay attention at all times, as well as to evaluate your own choices along the way.

Here, prior knowledge gained from the game may need to be evaluated in the context of new challenges in order to move forward. Research in digital learning shows that students become more engaged and learn better when the content is interactive and can be adapted to different target groups.

Consequences in the game

Learn from your mistakes—without risking your life

In the real world, mistakes in HSE situations can cost lives. With Trainor’s game-based learning, you can safely experience the consequences of wrong decisions—and learn from them without any real risk.

Immediate feedback on your actions helps you remember the situation and the correct procedure much better than if you had just read about it.

Consequences are key

The player must take action to move forward and immediately understands whether the choice was correct.
